Come view the latest in our "Get Framed @ the Library" project! Terry Butcher's history class at Barclay Hills Education Center has loaned us their political cartoons. They are on display in the Teen Area above the Comics/Graphic Novels shelves.
RACE CAR EXHIBITION
Tuesday, August 3, 6:00 - 8:00 pm

Travis "Tiny" Krum & Kaitie “Krash” Krum race in the CyberStock division at the Kalamazoo Speedway and will be exhibiting their race cars on Tuesday, August 3, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on the front lawn of the library. Bring the whole family to this free event! Stop by for an autograph and get your picture taken with the drivers! No registration necessary.
MEDIEVAL MYSTERIES

We are thrilled to host Melvin Starr, local author of the Hugh de Singleton medieval surgeon mystery series. Mel will take us through his trials as a rookie writer seeking an agent, and also discuss the medieval mysteries genre. He has spent many years teaching history and has studied medieval surgery and medieval English. Copies of his books will be available for purchase. Free program. COMPUTER SESSIONS
Weekdays in September
Free one-on-one computer sessions in Microsoft Word, Email, Internet Searching, Computer Basics, and Resumes, taught by library staff. One-hour sessions available from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Leave your name & phone number at the Information Desk and staff will call you to schedule a convenient time.

Microsoft Word -- This class will explain word processing and all the "bells and whistles" of MS Word. You must be familiar with a keyboard and mouse.
Everything Email -- This class will help you set up your own gmail (Google email) account. You must be familiar with a keyboard and mouse.
How to Search the Internet -- Search engines explained and how to conduct searches on the Internet. You must be familiar with a keyboard and mouse.
Computer Basics -- If you've never touched a computer or had limited experience, this is the class for you!
Resumes -- Especially for the job-seeker who is working with Michigan Works! Talent Bank and other online templates. You must be familiar with a keyboard and a mouse.

BEADMAKING WORKSHOP

Local paper and fiber artist, Barb Stewart, will show you how to make beads using scrapbook paper. We will also decorate scrapbook paper. Barb has taught many workshops and directed craft shows. She is a member of the Handmade Paper Guild of Southwest Michigan. Ages 16 & over. We only have space for 12 participants! Registration required. Pam Francis will offer a condensed version of her day-long class on Home Herbals on Wednesday, October 27 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm. Learn to grow, harvest, prepare and use herbs. Learn about teas, poultices and tinctures. This class is designed to be a fun learning experience about the awesome plants that are most widely available throughout the country to provide relief from wounds and complaints that are easily healed naturally.
