ANIME / MANGA CLUB! 
We meet on the first Monday of every month to watch anime, check out the library's newest manga, and enjoy snacks straight from Japan. Meet new friends and find new titles to read and watch. Vote for your favorites, tell us what to buy next, and help plan events.

Bring your Yu-Gi-Oh! cards or other decks or games to play, or even bring a movie or series - we may watch it! Costume-friendly!!

Michiko Yoshimoto from WMU's Soga Japan Center joins us each month for a look at life in Japan and J-pop culture!

MILITARY DOGS & HANDLERS COLLECTION DRIVE
MONTH OF JULY 2013

WARDOGSDuring the month of July,  we are collecting items  for Military Dogs & their Handlers.  Michigan Search & Rescue (MISAR) will pick up all your donations at the library during the first week of August.  They also accept cash donations to pay for postage to ship the $15.00 boxes overseas.
We chose this organization after sponsoring "The History of War Dogs" program in February.  And, we have the very inspiring DVD "War Dogs of the Pacific" available for checkout.
Please drop off items only when the library is open:  Monday-Thursday 10am - 8pm, Friday 10am - 6pm & Saturday 10am - 4pm.  And be sure to sign a thank you card when you donate--we'll include these in the shipments!

ITEMS FOR BIG DOGS (Labs, Dobermans, Malinois Shepherds):  Leashes, Collars, KONG dog toys, Tennis balls, Rope tugs, Frisbees, Grooming aids such as eye ointments, wet wipes (for dogs), brushes, Small bags of dog treats--nothing from China--all items should be made in USA, Toenail cutters, Pig ears--this is the only pork-based item allowed.

ITEMS FOR HANDLERS:  Snacks--nothing pork-based, Candy, Microwave popcorn, Fruit snacks, Paperback books--no skin showing on cover & no romance, DVDs--no skin showing on packaging, Crossword-type puzzle magazines, Disposable razors, Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Decks of playing cards.

Please donate your gently-used books to our Friends of the Library Book Sales.
 
We take ALL books (and DVDs, videos & CDs) in good condition except textbooks and encyclopedias.

public   MICHIGAN SEARCH & RESCUE DEMONSTRATION
Tuesday, July 23, 6 - 8 pm

MISARMichigan Search & Rescue is primarily a missing persons response team.  Canine teams are available 24/7 to aid in the search for missing persons in all types of situations.  Cris Bean and her team from Michigan Search & Rescue will bring airscent and cadaver dogs, and give an overview of how the dogs work and how they decide on which dog to use.  They will also discuss safety in the woods if you are lost so that help can get to you quickly.  The dogs all have their Canine Good Citizen certification, and are good for working demos and around people.  They love to show off!

Please join us for an enjoyable evening and meet some great dogs.  Fun for the whole family! 

There is no supply fee for this event, as has been reported elsewhere.

You can access your library account information via our online catalog!  From the library's web site, mouse over the "Catalog" link in the top menu bar and then click on "My Account." You'll need to know your Patron ID (the number on the back of your library card) and your password.  The default password is the last four digits of your phone number.   If this doesn't work, give us a call.  

You may ask us to re-set your password at any time - it can be any length and contain letters and/or numbers.   Stop in or call 343-7747.

You must have a resident library card, Senior Free library card, or Teacher library card in order to use this service.  If you have a reciprocal library card from us, please use your home library card instead in order to access the SMDL site.  You must also have a six-digit library card number.  We can provide a new card to you at no cost, if you need one.
