DVD - KVP/PARCHMENT FILM FROM THE 1920'S - $5
Jacob Kindleberger hired a Hollywood film crew to create a promotional film circa 1930. We've converted this 30-minute film to DVD and have it available for the public to purchase. The film opens with a wonderful aerial shot of the Kalamazoo Vegetable Parchment mill and the city of Parchment (no doubt filmed from a biplane!) and takes the viewer through the parchment paper manufacturing process. There are a few scenes of Jacob Kindleberger in his office and some lovely views of the young city. (The first few frames of the film are missing.)
Proceeds from the sale of this DVD benefit the Friends of the Library.
PRINT OF KVP MILL (c1930) - $20

Jacob Kindleberger hired a Grand Rapids engraver to create a birds-eye-view portrait of the Kalamazoo Vegetable Parchment Company.
With the equipment and kind assistance of the W.E. Upjohn Center for the Study of Geographical Change (wmich.edu/ucgc), we were able to make an exact replica of this beautiful print. It is available for purchase at the front desk.
Proceeds from the sale of these tote bags benefits the Friends of the Library.

Handmade "Baroness & Teddy" teddy bears from Linda Paxton are on display in our foyer case. "Einstein," "Yardley," "Countess" and their friends are visiting the library through the end of February. Don't miss these charming creations!
