How Parchment Came to Be – Part 1 of Our Town: Parchment’s Early History presented by local historian Cheryl Lyon-Jenness.
This three-part program explores Parchment’s early history including the role of Jacob Kindleberger in the development of the Kalamazoo Vegetable Parchment Company, the growth of Parchment as a “model community for the world,” and the changes in the city as the paper industry evolved in the 1950s and 1960s. Each program will include a talk about Parchment’s early history, an opportunity to browse through archival materials from the Local History Room, and refreshments from Parchment’s past.
