Observing the Sun
Drop by outside the library to observe the sun safely using special equipment with members of the Kalamazoo Astronomical Society. Equipment you can try will include:
Solar Telescopes, Sunoculars, Mini-Sunoculars, Indirect Pringles Can Viewer, Indirect Box Viewer, Indirect Tube Projector, Eclipse Glasses
If the weather is bad, we’ll have an indoor open house in the community room about observing the sun safely. This program is part of our eclipse series leading toward the Total Solar Eclipse on April 8, 2024. People who participate will receive a pair of eclipse glasses courtesy of the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation’s support of the Solar Eclipse Activities for Libraries (SEAL) program.
Never look at the sun without proper eye protection!
