Ongoing Events

These events occur regularly - weekly, monthly, or annually.

ALL AGES: Summer Reading

Win prizes!  Reading programs for all ages in June and July every year.

ADULTS: Friends of the Library

When COVID restrictions are not in place, the Friends meet at 2:00 pm on the 3rd Monday of January, February, March, June, July, September, October, and November.

In recent years, the Friends have raised several thousand dollars a year for new equipment, programming, and materials. Last year, the Friends renewed the library's subscription to "Book Page," a monthly publication available to library patrons for free paid for library programming for adults and children, including the Summer Reading Program. Everyone is welcome to join the Friends!

ADULTS: Mystery Book Club

Meets the 3rd Monday each month from 4:00-5:00 pm

If you love reading mysteries and whodunnits - this is the club for you!

ADULTS: Parchment Action Team

Third Thursday, 7:00 pm

Meet with your neighbors to discuss ways to make Parchment a great place to live.  Develop ideas into hands-on projects for volunteers and/or into proposals for the City Commission.

For more information, go to  There you'll find meeting agendas and minutes, photos of current and completed projects, and data from our 2017 Community Survey.

Our motto is "We find and we fix" - this is a group that gets things done! Share your talents with your community!

KIDS: 1000 Books Before Kindergarten

Book by book, step by step, help your child get ready for school and start a life-long love of reading and learning.

How the program works:

  • Register your child, at any age before they enter 5-year old Kindergarten, for this FREE do-it-at-home program.

  • Your child will receive a program folder which will contain their first reading log to record the first 100 books read together.

  • For every 100 books you read, your child will receive fun rewards.  It's OK to read the same book several times.
