Ongoing Events

These events occur regularly - weekly, monthly, or annually.

ALL AGES: Book Sales

The Friends of the Library host three Saturday book sales a year - in March/April, July (during Kindleberger Fest), and a special holiday sale in November.

  • Each sale runs from 10:00am to 3:00 pm.

  • Early Birds can get in the sale early, at 9:00 am, for just $1.00!

  • After 2:00 pm, you can get a bag of books for just $3.00 - and if you bring a Parchment Library book bag you can fill it for only $2.00.

  • You can purchase a Parchment Library shopping bag for just $2.00 or our deluxe canvas book bag for $8.00 at every book sale, and they're always available at the library's front desk.

  • You can order a custom-made Book Letter at our book sales, or at the front desk of the library at any time.  A Book Letter is a Readers Digest condensed book that has been cut into the shape of a letter of the alphabet.  You choose the color of the book cover, solid or patterned, and the letter you want.  Each letter is just $5.00 each.

2020 Book Sale dates:  March 28, July 11, November 14

Click here to receive a reminder the week before each book sale.

Every Day Sale: In addition to our three big sales, we always have a nice selection of books, audiobooks, and DVDs available to purchase from a display near the front desk, with the same low prices!

All proceeds go to the Friends of the Parchment Community Library, who use them to fund library services and events.

ALL AGES: Holiday Chocolate and Parchment Wassailing

Always the first Wednesday in December, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm

The Holiday Chocolate has been a Parchment tradition since 1995.  The Parchment Garden Club and the Friends of the Library make scrumptious homemade hot cocoa and cookies and serve them in a festive atmosphere of twinkling lights and holiday music.  In 2005, local businesses and organizations joined in the fun and now Parchment Wassailing brings the city alive with family activities and free refreshments.  Ride the free Holly Trolley and see it all!

ALL AGES: Kindleberger Fest

Usually the first full week in July - go to the Kindleberger Arts Commission page on Facebook for more details.

Kindleberger Fest is a week full of fun for the whole family!  Civic theater (a musical plus a youth production), 5k race, auto show, and more.

The festival's biggest day is Saturday with a parade and a huge arts and crafts show in Kindleberger Park.  Stop by the library's table and win a prize!

The library is just in front of the park, so walk over and find bargains at library's biggest booksale of the year.

How the program works:

  • Register your child, at any age before they enter 5-year old Kindergarten, for this FREE do-it-at-home program.

  • Your child will receive a program folder which will contain their first reading log to record the first 100 books read together.
