Picturing Women Inventors is organized by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service, in collaboration with the Lemelson Center for the Study of Invention and Innovation and the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and is sponsored by Lyda Hill Philanthropies IF/THEN Initiative and Ericsson.

    "TruKenna's Antique Permanent Wave Machine Hair Perm" is a series of three videos showing the real-time process of the

     Permanent Wave Machine in use.

         Part 1 shows the hair preparation. (1:20:27)

         Part 2 finishes the hair preparation and shows the use of the machine. (1:20:23)  They hook the machine up at 1:11:00

         and they begin the process of turning it on at 1:16:25.  Closeups of the equipment are shown at 1:19:20.

         Part 3 finishes the process of using the machine and shows the final look. (1:32:20)  A closeup of the timer is at 5:06.
