National Novel Writing Month Begins Today!
November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), a yearly international event for writers and would-be writers. The Parchment Community Library is a Come Write In partner with NaNoWriMo! Click HERE to sign up to join our Cheer Chart!
New to NaNoWriMo? Here are the basics:
Set a Goal: Are you going to write at least once a day? Write a certain number of words each day? Write a certain amount by the end of the month?
Make the Time: Life gets busy. This is your chance to carve out time to do something you love.
Do it Your Way: There is no right way to write. Pen and paper, keyboard, dictation, even a typewriter – have fun!
Stay Connected: Knowing other people are doing the same thing can make it easier to keep going. Join our cheer chart, grab a writing buddy, or join the international community on www.nanowrimo.org – there’s all sorts of ways to keep that momentum going!
In essence, NaNoWriMo is an excuse to stop making excuses and actually write! Many of us have stories, poems, memoirs, or travelogues in our heads that we’ve always meant to write down and just “have never found the time.” In November, give yourself permission to make that time, and join thousands of people worldwide – and dozens in your hometown – who are also committed to writing this month.
Whether you’re writing a complete first draft or working toward your own goals, our staff is excited to cheer you on this November! Please visit the library’s front desk to sign up, get a sticker and pencil, update your progress on our cheer chart, or get more information.
