Featured Artist of the Month
Information and Guidelines
Thank you for your interest in sharing your Art with the public and library patrons!
It’s our goal with the Featured Artist of the Month to support local artists, brighten our walls, and create a point of interest for the people in our community.
Interested? Here are the next steps:
- Carefully read the information below, noting the space and recommended sizes for displaying, as well as unlikely but possible risks to art on loan.
- Email ref@parchmentlibrary.org to let us know that you’re interested. Staff art coordinator Timmian will be in touch with submission details.
- If you are invited to be one of the Featured Artists, you’ll be given an Art Display Agreement to be filled in and signed at the library.
Display Spaces
We have two main display spaces. Our display wall in the teen corner, between the long windows and above the back-wall teen fiction shelves, is intended for artwork by teens.
Our display area in the “quiet corner” near the magazine, newspapers, and Local History Room, is intended for artworks by adults.
Teen Area
3 – 6 pieces, 16”-18” maximum width (three vertical 24”x18” or up to six smaller pieces, one hanging above the other in pairs)
High Space Above Teen Shelves
1 – 6 pieces of any width and around 18” to 24” in height
Quiet Corner
3 – 6 pieces, 16”-18” maximum width (three vertical 24”x18” or up to six smaller pieces, one hanging above the other in pairs)
Artwork Handling
Art should be ready to hang, either mounted on paper or with wired backs or suitable hooks upon delivery.
Framing is recommended for works on paper or other easily damaged material.
Please be aware that, although the library staff will do their best to keep your artwork safe, the Library is not liable for any damages to your Art while it is on display. Prints/reproductions of artworks ARE acceptable, so if you’d rather hang a reproduction of a precious or fragile piece, that is an option to consider. High wall space is available above the teen wall shelving.
